Striking early 19th Century French marble obelisks in the neo-Egyptian style. The obelisks are a lucid green with gold swirling through, decorated with Egyptian style hieroglyphics on the front. The plinths have black marble accents on the stepped base and more carved hieroglyphics. These obelisks are stunning, and would be a fabulous addition to a collection or as a very special decorative element in your home.
20 1/4 inches tall. 4 1/4 inch square base.
The condition is quite good for obelisks of this age. Both obelisks are constructed with a metal post attaching the base to the obelisk as is typical for obelisks of the early 19th century. Obelisk A (wreath right side up)has repairs at two places on one side, bottom, of obelisk, and one repair on one edge of plinth. Minor chip to top corner of plinth and chip at bottom of corner of obelisk. Obelisk B has a repair to one plinth edge. Please see photos, and more photos available on request. The obelisks show very well, and the chips are mostly only noticeable on the back.
